Islam is a religion and a complete way of life. Islam is being at peace with everyone, by surrendering (obeying) to the Will of the Creator. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy and forgiveness.
What is a Muslim?
The word Muslim means a person in a state of Peace and submission. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that a true believer is one from whose hands and tongue people are safe from, and from whom people are safe upon their blood (lives) and wealth. A Muslim should be at peace with one's Creator, family and fellow human beings.
Muslims believe in One, Unique, and Incomparable God. Muslims believe in the Day of Judgement, and individual accountability for actions.
Muslims believe in a chain of Prophets beginning with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, David, Solomon, and Jesus (peace be on them all). God's eternal message was reaffirmed and finalised by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be on them all).
One becomes a Muslim simply by affirming with firm conviction, "There is no deity but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God." By this declaration, the person announces faith in all of God's Prophets and Messengers and the articles of faith.
There are an estimated 1.2 billion Muslims world-wide.
