The "Open Hands Project" is an initiative of Chepstow Baptist Church. It Aims to:

  • Establish a network of contacts and relationships between the faith communities in the area
  • Explore if there are  area's of common interest or need that we can co-operate on

The project is simply seeking to establish and foster good and positive relationships between the local faith communities. It is not seeking to explore multi-faith worship, nor promote any one faith

  • The project's objectives are:
  • To research and establish contact with the faith communities in the locality
  • To encourage and develop dialogue between people of faith and the local authorities and services
  • To support and extend any existing dialogue between faith communities
  • To co-ordinate resources (e.g. community transport options, luncheon clubs etc)

The "Open Hands Project" is based in Chepstow, and seeks to cover the area bounded by Gloucester, Monmouth, Bristol and Newport, including the nearer outskirts of all of these towns

It started as an initiative funded by The Home Office through the Faith Communities Capacity Building Fund. The funding expired at the end of March 2007, and the project is now supported solely by the Church
